The Journey Begins 2007

Our first project in Newham started in January 2007 where we worked with writer Hope Massiah and composer Ronald Corp to create a piece of text and music which celebrates the completion of the Eurostar terminal in Stratford and the beginning of a time of change and renewal for the area.

Creative writing workshops in January were followed by creative music workshops, and then a series of rehearsals leading to the final performance.

We worked with the Newham Academy of Music as a key local partner on this project, and their orchestras and choirs were also involved.

In addition we worked in 4 local Primary Schools:

•Carpenters

•Godwin

•Maryland

•Nelson

and with Look Ahead Housing and Care

The final public performance of 'Newham Welcomes the World: The Journey Begins' took place at ExCel London on 4 July 2007.
