King's Strings

Featuring two viola da gambas and an arch lute, the King's Strings will explore the music of Marin Marais and his contemporaries in a predominantly French Programme.
King's Strings is a period ensemble which aims to combine a unique interpretation and performance with an informed and accurate use of performance practise techniques. They have worked with renowned early music specialists such as Ton Koopman, Hille Perl and Peter Holtslag.

Newham Welcomes the World: Pass the Baton 2008

Pass the Baton spans the generations: themes given by older people in Newham have been re-interpreted by its young people. Mix in professional help from artists like Excalibah and the result is a fantastic fusion of hip-hop and orchestra. Pass the Baton will be performed on just two very special days in August so make sure you are there!
Afternoon performances last approx 1 hour.
Evening performances include a short first half of music played by the New London Orchestra, conducted by Ronald Corp.
The New London Orchestra is working with different age-groups in Newham to explore the diversity, character and creativity of local people in the lead up to 2012.
