Adventures in Music

Education is central to the life of the New London Orchestra. Our programme was established in 2000 to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to benefit from the positive impacts of participating in music.

We are unique in putting education, in its broadest sense, first and strongly believe in the power of music to change and improve people’s lives.

We have developed a unique programme which aims to enhance learning in the key curriculum subjects of Maths, Literacy and Science through fun participatory music workshops. These projects also offer training and support to teachers, and give many children their first direct experiences of instrumental music-making.

Our community projects bring people of different cultures and experiences together, and we use the unifying power of music to positive effect in society.

Much of our current work is focused in East London, especially Newham, where we have embarked on a major 6-year community project entitled Newham Welcomes the World.
