New London Orchestra: 20th Birthday Gala Concert

When the New London Orchestra began giving concerts twenty years ago it was at once hailed for its innovative programming and its artistic excellence:

Twenty CDs later and with many performances behind it the New London Orchestra is engaged on a project to celebrate Grazyna Bacewicz and other female composers (A Woman’s Voice series), the music of America (American Symphonists) and a return to the music of Martinů and his compatriots.

All New London Orchestra performances are an “adventure”, as audiences are always entertained and informed by the music which is played, and discover undeservedly neglected repertory.

For the birthday concert we juxtapose the old (Purcell) and the new (Corp Piano Concerto), reflect on the success of our first twenty years (Martinů), and introduce a major but neglected talent to the London concert scene in Bacewicz.
